State Center Community College District

I was brought on as a graphic designer at State Center Community College District, with a focus on web content engineering. A key part of my role was organizing content in a user-centered way that always prioritized accessibility and integration. Whenever possible, I also pushed for visual improvements to enhance the overall experience. Here are some highlights of my favorite pieces from the role:

Icon Design

At SCCCD, icon design was an important part of navigating their website, both on the front and back end. This allowed me the freedom to experiment with a lot of different styles, often taking inspiration from previously designed icons, but making them custom and original.

Icons were used to visually represent links on the front facing page, or apps for developers on the back end. This often meant trying to summarize one link with an image, pulling from a pre-existing logo to represent an app, or a combination of the two. The following is a small collection highlighting some of the icons I made.

Notebooks
symbols
Job ID
globe
diploma
Books
test
computer screen
name tag
triangle app
square app
calendar
English
Knowledge
Clock

Log Out Page

I was asked to make a district-wide image that every student would see once logged out of the school’s services. It was an interesting challenge attempting to find a visual that would represent every college in our District all at the same time, until I realized the answer was right in front of me: the students.

This collage pulls from every single campus, represents every ethnic group, and showcases events unique to each of the colleges. If you know the District, you’d be able to tell which photo was taken from where. But otherwise, it’s just a group of students all representing one great community of people working to better themselves.
